Hello all,
In the opinion of the forum, where are
the best paying/benefit ESL positions in the Middle East?
I have a masters in TESL/TEFL and another masters in technology plus
experience teaching Muslims.
Please don't tell me Iraq as I WILL NOT GO THERE!!
I hear BSA pays well but has DRAWBACKS (who doesn't).
Any other contractors you can recommend?
I am not looking for the middle of the desert but it doesn't have to be Dubai
either.
Thanks all

Boose Allen ? Raytheon ? British Aerospace ?

One of these is reluctant to hire converts to Islam. I will let you figure out which one.

If you had more posts I could send you a personal message (PM)

One of these is reluctant to hire converts to Islam.

Why is that?
Thanks

Dear scot47.

Or perhaps because converts tend to be much more zealous than those born into a faith.

Er... "BSA" is the Boy Scouts of America. Ever since the late 90's when they bought Marconi Aerospace, they've been known as "BAe Systems"...

BSA was also "British Small Arms" who used to manufacture guns from a base in Birmingham. They made motorbikes too, before our leaders decided to de-industrialise Britain.

Here, you might like to read about this person's experience as an ESL teacher.

Good stuff Vanica... I wonder if the author is a member here. Laughing

But, I do think our OP specifically asked us not to suggest Iraq. Not that AUIS pays very well for TEFLers.

He also said on other threads that he wants to bring his 86-year-old mother to the Middle East.

Mention that to an employer and the application goes straight into the waste paper basket.

I know, but he might make an exception for 15,000 cash!

''And for this, he was paid about $15,000 per month. The only reason I know he made that much is that he was a terrible braggart. Wed just been paid our first months salary, in cash, and as he walked with me among the cabins, he crowed, 'Here I am walkin along with $15,000 cash in my pocket!'

''He didnt rate that sort of money because of his qualifications. As in, he didnt got none. Not even a Ph.D. (though he claimed later to have picked one up from an online degree mill). He had no recent teaching experience, and no academic publications...''

Yes, but he wasn't referring to TEFL salaries in the article. They have been mentioned here before and were decidedly paltry.

Quote from article: 'Most Americans are horrified by the sight of large amounts of cash.'

Where the hell does he get that idea from?
