Hey guys,
I just finished day two of my AEON interview. They said they will contact me in a couple weeks as to whether or not I got the job. Is this their nice way of saying you did not get the job?
They said my lesson went well etc.. maybe it was not very good? HELP! |

Usually if you failed the interview, you'd get a letter on the spot saying so. At my girls, two girls began crying profusely when they opened their letter basically saying, "we don't want you" while others had letters telling them when they would be expected back.
Sounds like they stopped this method though......which is a good thing.
Anyway, when you come back, you'll be asked to do another teaching demo and choose teaching locations. |

I think EFL is like most other businesses. You don't usually get a message on the day of your interview confirming anything. Positiveness is about all one can expect most of the time. Confirmation comes officially later.
I got hired at my current university post in a nerve-wracking way. Interview in February, positive phone call in early March, more positive feedback when I phoned them (because the academic year starts in April, and I would have had to find a house 200 km away from my current one at the time, etc.
They said the best they could tell me on the phone was that unofficially I'd been hired. I got the official message 2 weeks before classes started, and had to make a mad dash to find a new home in 1 day, to say the least of trying to get lesson plans together.
Be patient. |

Thanks guys for posting. Yes I most certainly will have to be patient haha. I some how got the impression from some websites that they offer the contract the same day (of the 2nd interview).
Overall I felt I did rather well. The "impromptu" lesson almost threw me off but I powered through it and received some compliments on my lesson. I truly hope this is the start of my ESL career. If not, I will just apply for AMITY! |

I had to wait 2 weeks for my AEON interview result and it was good news
Don't worry, good luck, and of course - like everyone says - be patient! |

Christ! How did they react to traffic lights changing colours? I think that they were caught out rather well by the interviewer!

My group had some interesting personalities as well. During my lesson, one of my "students" decided to finish my sentences when I was talking... It was so weird lol. She would look at my props and just read them, even though I did not Que her to at all. Anyone else have some tough applicants during their demo? |

Haha that is bizarre! Do you know if she got through to the personal interview? My fellow interviewees were a lovely bunch (there were only 7 of us) who were very supportive throughout each lesson. We did have a 50 year old former engineer who used his 5 minute lesson to read monotonously about succeeding in your dreams. I don't think he made it to the next day. |

The grammar test was interesting. I ended up misspelling some words..sucks when you are nervous.
You are given 20 minutes to do the following:
Spell 5 words that are spoken to you.
Explain the grammatical differences between 4 words
Example: Want to vs Hope to
Explain the differences between the words:
Personal vs personnel.
Then you need to fill out a 7 question long questionnaire on the back of the exam.
Again you have 20 minutes and you can't linger on anything if you want to finish lol. They want examples for all of your answers.
Overall not to hard, but I did misspell disastrous... I added an i for some reason lol. "Disastrious!" sucked.. O well |
