Hello All,
I know some of you will tell me to look in past posts and believe me I have.
However, the best places to work in the UAE is really a relative subject.
In the opinions of my esteemed colleagues, where do you recommend I apply?
As always thanks.
FG

What are your credentials and experience? What is your definition of "best"?

same boat as florida guy...
I have a BA,
1 yr exp. in Korea...
6 months teaching in general (europe)
and a TEFL (Online)

Other than torturing myself with what SABIS offer those in my shoes, is there any hope for me in the UAE securing something somewhat respectable paying?

SABIS usually requires a teaching certificate (K-12) from your home country.

You don't have the qualifications for any even relatively respectable paying jobs - bottom feeders who do not provide documentation, benefits, and probably not paying in full or on time are about all that are available.

There are too many competitors in the GCC marketplace with much better qualifications and loads more relevant experience.

hopefully this post is not too late. i normally don't bother posting as it can be dangerous to your job security and/or residency.

@floridaguy, DON"T TEACH ENGLISH, teach technology. worst thing about teaching english is that you actually have to talk to the students. my friends who teach math, technology and pe at iat had, are having and probably wil have a far better experience than the english teachers did. the admin is one thing but dealing with raging lunitics is a different story. i don't mean that as an insult, that is meant as a descriptive adjective. if i wanted to insult them, i would have written "f-ing" in front. to sum it up, worst year of my life and i have never looked back. three years later, i am still effected (infected). don't let people lie to you, there is no maturity difference between the teenage lunitic at iat and the young adult lunitic at hct. point? TEACH TECHNOLOGY!!!

you can try zayed university. if you can get in, i haven't heard anything really bad about the place. national women have their problems too but socially, you can't, won't and don't want to get close to them.

if you are american american and you have a valid teaching license, apply to american school dubai and expience a normal and balanced life in dubai. that may seem like shallow advice but believe me you will appreciate it when you, like first dorothy and later I, first realize that this is not "kansas".

IF and ONLY IF asd (or schools like it and there are others) or zayed u don't work out, i would say teach TECHNOLOGY at hct or iat but buy a double-sided chastity belt. "IT'S A MAD HOUSE, A MAD HOUSE!"

@undegnaw, go back to asia or back to europe. you are heading for doom with only those credentials (or better for that matter). the bottom feeders will smell fianancial despiration on you and the feeding frenzy will commence. worst of all, you will not find any sympathy, help, or support from authorities. bottom line, you will be hate life!!!
