The ultra-friendly people EVERYWHERE have ulterior motives. Suck-ups and con artists know no geographic or ethnic boundaries

y. Li,
I hear what others are saying. I also know, maybe, something they don't.
Your roots. Growing up off shore and going to China to teach will give you
a different perspective on who you are. Mingling with a sea of black hairs will
give you a different feeling, like a penguin among penguins.

You said money is not a problem, then you are REALLY going there for the cultural experience, which sometimes even money can not buy. You are going to Shangdong, or have the chance to, which is a former German colony. It has a nice seaport at Qingdao with western architecture and German beer. You also have a chance to travel to other parts of the country, which is like summer
travels to Europe for many N. A. youths, to discover their roots.

You made a friend at the pub who is a native of Jinan or Shandong. Well, do you know only the rich, educated, or the connected are able to travel? So I would trust that individual, who will likely come to your aid should problems arise. He probably will introduce to you all the sights you want to see and all
the right people you need to know.

So I say, go for it! And have a grand time, or maybe a time of your life.

Well, your plan to procreate with a condom will be a lot more difficult, though not impossible.
Cool

Condoms are 98 percent effective in preventing pregnancy when used consistently and correctly.
The first-year effectiveness rate in preventing pregnancy among typical condom users on average is 86 percent. This includes pregnancies resulting from errors in condom use.

Yli,
Just forgot to add this: You still have to wait for an invitation from the institution before applying for a work visa. Naturally an officially signed contract as well. Just do a one year contract and see how you like it.

If you are good, they will ask you to stay. If you feel dissatisfied, then say
"Good bye, Charlie. " after your year. Unless you like to apply to other schools.

Mind you, during your year there it is wise to get to know other schools and other possibilities for the following year. Without advertising to your immediate employer of course.

Bon chance amigo!

Maybe a better term would be "copulate".
