I'm trying to make sense of this but it is really doing my head in.

I'm pretty sure i need one of these if i want to get hired legally anywhere and the fact that i'm Irish, eg an EU citizen, makes no difference, am I right?

Also i'm reading things like you have to be at the offices 5 hours before they open to get a ticket to get seen that day, can anyone tell me is it still like that in Madrid now, even though there is a higher level of unemployment?

Any tips on sorting this out would be appreciated cos it seems like it will be a nightmare.

You don't need one when you're starting your contract but will need to get it by the end of the year. I managed to get an appointment this week for December 20th. There's no chance of just walking in unfortunately.

In every country in Europe there's some sort of registration necessary for foreigners, so Spain is no different. I found the process simpler, less onerous and bureaucratic than what my girlfriend had to put up with in Belfast.

If the school is half decent they should arrange all these things for you!
