I've neither seen nor used this new course book but New English File is a pretty good series. I've heard there's a new New Cutting Edge out soon (all levels). If so, I sure hope they've managed to proofread this time before publication for spelling and grammar mistakes!!
I certainly find N C Edge, whenever I've used it, a better course book than New Headway. Some levels are okay but New Headway intermediate has to be the most BORING course book Evil or Very Mad I've ever come across. I hated having to use it and it needed heavy supplementing. I have to wonder if some of these designers of ESL materials have ever seen the inside of a classroom themselves.

One of the best - although I've never found any book that truly satisfies my needs. With absolute beginners (and yes, I've had some) I use a mixture of Callan, Michel Thomas and my own creative brilliance. Laughing

I like English File. One of my faves. I used the elementary level book, not the beginners. The only thing negative I'd say is it's a little Eurocentric. It comes out of England, and when teaching Africans and Arabians they had no idea about 'Murder Mysteries', the various musical styles, the movies (which scandalously featured pictures of people kissing) and so on. However, I could have chosen a more culturally appropriate text - most other teachers opted for Headway, but I prefer English File.
