Something caught my eye in a Moscow store window the other day. It was a counted cross-stitch -- of a naked woman!

I had a very difficult time visualizing an old Russian grandmother sitting and cross stitching a naked woman (though it was nicely done, mind you).

What weird stuff have you seen for sale in your countries?

In Burma once, near Shwedagon Pagoda there were women selling finches. A friend told me that the thing to do was buy one and then set it free. Supposed to be meritorious. Cool, I though. But when I told it to fly be free it just fluttered to the ground nearby, most likely to be scooped up in another net to repeat the process. Embarassed

I wonder how much time the local finches spend in the slammer on an average day?

It wasn't so much the individual items as it was the resulting effect. The first time I saw the ganguro fashion statement in Japan, I was a little taken aback.

The outfit: mini skirts, tube tops and platform boots.
The makeup: heavy eyelines surrounded by pale eye shadow, with pale lipstick to match.

It was like a mixture of hooker meets Spice Girls meets KISS. Cripes, whatta combo! Laughing

Ok! This one was in China! I went to the Tiger Park in Harbin last winter holiday. They had something really funny for sale there! You can actually purchase living animals to feed the tigers...

They actually bring the animal on the car with you, and then you throw it by the window and see the tigers eat it....Very cruel are you gonna say; yes it is but chinese loves it! They had dogs, cats, chickens and even better calibre, such as sheep, goats and the big ultra trio : a beef!!!

Anyway... I heard beautiful stories about kids petting the animals without knowing that their parents had bought those animals to actually feed the hunger! You can think about the ending!
