There may be little reason to take anything on face value, when someone ask for information or opinions as to what the consequences or results from any given action, but their request are not a license to weigh poster contributions as to validly as if this board was judge and jury. Most request for additional information to justify "helpful" postings are in fact a plea for the gory details as many use this kind of opinion board for entertainment. |

| Precisely. The OP has not asked for justification, only information. I can't think of any reason that anyone would need more info about the OP's situation. |

The OP stated he wanted to leave for reasons of personal safety.
Therefore, it would seem:
The scope and credibility of the threat is relevant.
The guanxci circle of the threat actor is relevant.
The emotional intensity of and investment of the threat actor in this situation is relevant.
What documents have been processed and who has possession of them is relevant.
And myriad other questions have potential bearing.
Absent that, the best answer is, "It all depends."
Giving an under informed, "off the cuff" response to someone, who perceives them self to be in a situation that threatens their personal safety, seems to me quite problematic.
