Just wondering...

I am 32, clean-cut. Five years of experience teaching English in language schools, business classes, private middle and high schools in Mexico. I also have a 120 hour on-site TEFL with six hours of observed teaching practice. English native speaker. Intermediate Spanish skills.

What are my odds in Peru, especially in Lima?

As far as teaching at schools or unis, you're out of luck. YOu could, however, teach at language schools. You're not goign to be getting a visa, though. And you could teach privates as well. If you want a job, you're goign to have to show up in person and pass out your CV.

I know all about showing up in person and pounding the pavement for 10 hours or more a day looking for work.

But I am sure there are colegios in Peru that would hire a qualified teacher over somebody with just a degree, same as in Mexico.

I completely agree with you. But those colegios aren't going to be paying as well as international schools or even some of the language schools. But the hiring season is coming up Hope it works out for you. Let us know how it goes.
