Don't miss what is becoming a tradition in Mexico City - the wonderful Alebrije Parade! According to my sources at the Museo de Arte Popular, the sponsoring museum, this year it will be bigger and better than ever with many more alebrijes participating, created by artisans from all over the Repblica, not just Mexico City. It will take place on Saturday, October 23, beginning at noon, starting at the Zcalo, proceeding down Madero and Jurez and Reforma and ending up at el ngel. If you can't make the parade, all of the alebrijes will be on display from the 23rd till November 7 along Reforma between el ngel and la Diana.

Thanks for the heads up! This is one of my favorite things to see every year.

Unfortunately, I will be in Cuernavaca for a wedding that weekend Sad I can't wait to see the alebrijes when I get back, though!

How wonderful. My friend and her family got to march in the procession last year, and help carry one of the alebrijes. I hope you'll post pictures from the event. I plan to get there one of these days...

Saludos,
Serena

Don't forget the parade! Starts in less than an hour. Meaning...

I have to run!

Nice parade though I don't think it was as good as previous years. The overall theme this year was revolution with a lot of Zapata designs.

Here's a bunch of photos...
