| Have any of you heard of MODA? It seems to be a player that is being bandied about, and not always in a positive light. |

Yes, Mr Carpenter, that somehow rings a bell.
Rumour has it that MODA is a recruitment agency established by a few PMU administrators. In other words, an "internal" PMU agency that is external to PMU's human resources department.
Obviously these scoundrels are skimming their percentage off the funding grants awarded by King Abdullah. I doubt that their little enterprise is registered as a business with the local Chamber of Commerce. That requires investigation.
Did anyone say Conflict of interest?
Would anyone in the know care to confirm this rumour? |

Not likely... prefer to hire experts.
Why exactly are you posting on this thread? Is it just to troll and pick fights with people?

Humbug,
So are you guys on the level or just grousing? And if they're going to featherbed higher education, as that newspaper clipping stated, will there also be a concerted effort to boost English language proficiency across the land, and a subsequent relaxation of visa requirements to accomodate more teachers? C'mon, look into your crystal ball ...

Yeah, no. Sorry. Any new monies will be distributed to the various and sundry royalties and hangers on. Improve English teaching? Why? Do you think the majority of administrators care a fig about English, or any other education? Relax visa requirements? Why? Now the administrators can f$%k with you every which way over visa issues. Do you think they want to lose that power?
"Let's start some new schools and recruiting agencies and line our pockets some more," is more likely the attitude. PMU is a perfect example. They've no more interest in education than the Pope has in Islam. It is a nice money machine and laundry. The prince gets richer, and the students and faculty struggle with nada. |

Yeah, that's pretty corrupt. Getting more that way everywhere I suppose. I'm just afraid the growing number of apparachiks will start recruiting talented amateurs, over-educated and under-employed volunteers, to create bigger margins. I've seen that happen elsewhere, in other industries.

If you knew anything about the Gulf, you wouldn't even have to ask. Whatever business there is exists for the purpose of sucking petrodollars out of the government in one way or another. We expats whether cleaners or teachers are there to facilitate it. At least we teachers benefit more than the cleaners.

Let me ask Daddyo if he thinks the merchant bankers will be earaning leass as a result of the economic crisis.
Of course not - but they are all screaming that the rest of us have to pay for the failure of international finance capital. Where is my AK-47 ?

OK - thanks for admitting that you cannot think of a single country where a TEFL teacher's earning potential is on a par with the Gulf. |

Isabela, I prefer to change the above to:
"They've no more interest in education than Uncle Sam has in Democracy!"

Yes, I agree 200% with you. The rich get richer and the gap between rich princes, princesses and poor English teachers is widening! |

Ha ha I love this thread, it's so hostile ...
I couldn't agree more with your sentiments, actually I think we should print and distribute a deck of cards featuring all the G20 central bankers, with Bernanke as the Ace of Spades.
