30K for a haircut

Correct, 30k (vn) is the standard cost of a well done haircut, used to be 15 to 20. Anyhow, not more than $2 usd always has had me looking and feeling good. Shop around. It can help if you have a picture of a previous haircut you liked to show the lady.

MOD EDIT People spend a lot of money on haircuts sometimes and to be fair, if you used to paying $75 and the same standard's $40 here thats fair enough.

Some people buy basic food, some people by expensive food; same for haircuts (and the like), rent etc, gym membership, not to mention choice of bars. Surely in a way, a 30k dong haircuts the equivalent of a 13k basic rice meal or beer at a bia hoi, and a $40 haircut the equivalent of a monthly splurge at the Rex hotel reataurant or whatever. And you could argue the haircut's a better investment.

Personally I pay 80-100k dong at the barber's for the full works; cut, shave, electronic massage, facial treatment, ear cleaning.

The haircut is one of the luxuries that I like in Vietnam. However, the ear clean always makes me worry when they approach with that bud on a long stick. Nothing's going in my ears thanks. Smile

I'm a twice a month guy. Love the shave.

On the money thing it's great that people point out costs and good places to board members. Either way, and lets be honest, why would a bloke pay $40 bucks for a haircut when they can get the same thing for a fraction of the price or with a pair of clippers at home. For the guys its probably more of a warning but for the ladies its not bad. My wife gets her hair done for about that price in Saigon on Nguyen Thi Minh Khai. Its a smoking deal.

On another shameless promotion check this website out http://www.phanthietvn.com/ it's done by a group of youths who are all keen photographers trying to promote Phan Thiet. The photography is brilliant and the info brilliant. They are working on the Eng trans.
