I have been an educational assistant in Canada for over 30 years. I recently graduated from a reputable ESL course and am very much looking to move to Costa Rica, Panama, Cuba, or Mexico to teach ESL.
I prefer the school setting but am open to teach in alternate situations.
Please offer any tips to optain meaningful employment in COSTA RICA...
my desired destination! |

1) Search the job boards (there are literally hundreds of them) or
2) get on a plane, fly down and hit the bricks.
Realistically, those are your only 2 options.
Option 1 may take more time but you may at least have some idea of where you are going.
Option 2 means taking the initiative and will be faster but you best be able to think on your feet.
In either case you will need your airfare and a couple thousand dollars in start-up money to last you until payday.

When I arrived in Costa Rica I worked for a few language schools for next to nothing. Then someone recommended Pro-English to me. They pay much more than almost all others and you get good blocks of classes. You should be able to find them in the Tico Times. Let me know if you want more info. |

There's a general Latin American forum here. You might want to post there. |

Thank you for the advice. Will look into it. What do you think my chances are if I just go to CR and pound the pavement? |
