i've decided to depart from my state owned school by the end of the month. i'm wondering how difficult it will be for me to find a new job.
i am currently in henan province, and i came here from hubei. i received a letter of release and recommendation from my former employer, which i gave to my employer here in henan to apply for my work documents for me. that never happened and it's one of the reasons why i'm leaving. (others include late pay, substandard living conditions, verbal abuse, threats, etc.)
i am still in china legally because my residency permit from hubei has not expired. it will not expire until january.
i don't have my old foreign expert certificate. i brought it with me here from hubei and gave it to my supervisor at my university here in henan, but she has repeatedly refused to return it to me.
i don't have my reference letter from my former employer, either. as i said above, i gave that to my supervisor hoping that she would use it to apply for my documents, but i had no such luck.
my university and i have both signed a contract, but i'm not sure how much that matters given the fact that they never went forward with applying for my documents. basically, i've been working for them illegally for more than two months.
basically, this is what i'm wondering: if i visit my former employer in hubei and get them to write me another reference letter, will i be able to disappear from this place and get another job in china without any trouble? i've been in touch with a few schools that are interested in me, but they said that they can't bring me on board unless i get my hands on that letter. they don't seem to care about this university because my work documents don't show that i've ever worked here. |
