Hello everyone!
Just got a call that I would have an interview with this school. Could someone tell me more about it, please?
1) Salary range ( from -to)( I have an MA in TESL + 25 years of experience; 10 in the Gulf)
2) Vacation time per year.
3) How many teaching hours in a day/week?
4) Do they provide accomodations or help you find them or how?
5) Do they keep your passport?
The good, the bad and the ugly.
All answers will be most appreciated as I could not find anything when I searched for them. |

If you do a search here, it has been discussed in the past. You might also search for Petroleum Institute... as they are kinda sorta related. There have been so many changes with these two in the last few years... and the teacher numbers are not that large, so we might not have anyone on board here who knows much about the current situation at either.
I would assume that the salary and benefits - and conditions - would be pretty standard for the Gulf for someone with an MA and lots of experience.
I do not believe that there are any education employers in the UAE who keep passports.

If you don't know, that suggests that you have no Gulf experience.
A standard contract in the Gulf has salary plus some allowances... housing or an allowance... furnished or an allowance... tickets for employee and family... medical coverage of some sort... a couple months off in the summer... usual Muslim holidays... gratuity on completion... something towards school fees if you have kiddies.
Salary depends on credentials and experience. A related MA + required experience should get someone from 12-20,000 Dhs depending on what an employer requires and what you have to offer.

Actually I have many years of Gulf Experience, but not in the Emirates, and I do not know how things are done there. That is why I am asking.
Qatari, Saudi and Omani salaries are not the same, either.
From some sources, this is the information:
Salary- some AED -18,000-20,000+ a month.
Vacations- some 40 days a year.
Housing - they help you find it and give you a housing allowance.
Takes over one month to process the documents but less than two months.
Those are the details.
Why such information is so hard to come by is beyond me. Such a famous place and so many people work there. |

As far as Gulf education goes, it is neither a "famous" place nor a major employer of teachers. There have rarely been any ads running or posters here who have taught there... which is why there have been so little information.
But as I said, it seems that it offers a typical Gulf benefit package... and of course the salaries between places like Saudi and Oman vary.

ATI is a place that teaches lazy Emirati youths who feel a sense of entitlement-they will be "entitled"to earn 34,000 dhs for doing very little in a couple of years.Students are passed automatically and are often "helped out"(as opposed to "helped"by some of the teachers. Most of the European and american teachers are getting out of the place, but there were "500 applicants for five jobs"the othere week which shows there's still a market out there from wannabbe escapees from GulagUgru
and the TellyTubbytHeCamel show.ATI have now cut teachers holidays as in the past weekends were not included-now they are.Housing is lousy. The only advantage is you can facebook yourself into oblivion in your free time.students are "shoved"in here by pushy local parents who have wusta, and have usually been kicked out of other satate schools. |
