|
|
Dear All
I am facing a chaotic situation here.
I left the Kingdom for summer holidays and did not return in time for my re-entry visa although the university sent the letter to the embassy and my reentry visa was reissued, the university than terminated my contract and cancelled my tickets.
Now I am trying to apply to a new university and wondering if I am "black listed"? Can I join my new employer? Is there any problem in similar context you faced? Please do not share if you heard something from someone who heard it from someone.
I really appreciate your feedback in advance.

There is no such 'black list'. |

Of course, since you obviously do not have an NOC from your first employer, you will need to obtain a new passport before you apply for a new Saudi visa.
No NOC=no visa. |

Oh, I didn't know physical presence was required for that. If they do agree to give him one, couldn't they mail it to him?
What if someone works in Saudi and leaves without getting one, and then wants to come back to another job a few years later? How could they go about getting it? And what is the maximum number of years between 2 jobs until it is required? |

His contract was terminated and he did not return from summer leave. It's most unlikely they would grant him an NOC and even if they did, in the time he spent hanging around waiting for them to send it, he'd be better off just getting a new passport.

I suppose they could write to their former employers, but the norm is for you to be given one (or not) along with the rest of your exit papers. Also, given the lethargy of SAudi admin staff, the chances of them taking the trouble to promptly process this document for someone they may never have met, are quite slim.

There's no hard and fast rule - it varies from embassy to embassy, or even from official to official. |

Dear Cleopatra,
"it varies . . . . . . . . even from official to official."
Words to live by in Saudi. And actually, that can work in your favor. When you don't like the answer you get from one source, try another - you'll sometimes/often get lucky.
Regards,
John |

In my short two months in KSA, I would have to agree completely with your statement

You had negative experiences. Why do you want to come back ? "Caelum, non animum mutant qui trans mare currunt." I suspect my quotation from Horace will fall on deaf ears but with the wonders of the internet, even those without a classical education may find the meaning of this aphorism. Very applicable to the sad "expats" in KSA. |

Why did Hai'l university terminate your contract after they sent a letter to the embassy for a new re-entry visa?

It will depend on Hai'l university what they wrote to the Jawazaat, and if your Iris was scanned in the airport, then your info will be stored in the Jawazaat database and expect the unexpected!
Why did you not resign in the first place?

Uncle Scott, what about changing the sky of the Magic Kingdom, do you think it will solve the problem? |

It about time you shared something mate. Good to have you in the conversation.
Well this is what happened.
I went back home for summer holidays. Got a heart problem had to stay in the hospital for 3 weeks and by the time i got discharged from the hospital, the due date for travel was gone. The reentry visa was expired too. I requested UoH for visa extension letter, they granted me one and I applied for it. Got the bloody visa now I wanted to get my tickets changed contacted the university and they wrote me this:
"It is our pleasure to inform you that your services are no longer needed,"
The reason told to me over the phone was that I could not make it back within 15 days after the summer holidays ends.
Well this is the story, the HoD and the Dean wants to have me back even (why not ??) but just to be safe I am applying to other universities too (you know after all Hail is at the end of the World).
I can certainly change my passport. Infact I have no space left on my passport so I shall have to get one. But is changing the passport the optimal solution?
Your comments are welcomed.
Cheers,
J |
