Perfectly adequate. In fact, perhaps bordering on over-experienced for many teaching positions here. Very Happy

Adequate for the position - probably. Legal? Not so much.

Mr.Buzz - I hope you have already started looking for your job over here.

Get what you can, and just make sure that it's legit (lots of ways to do that)... and let the argument continue while you're doing what you want to be doing.

But, contrary to NickPellatt's position, I see no reason why you can't start on a BA or BEd now. It will certainly make your life a lot easier in the future, for getting better jobs. It's only a few years, and if you really want to live here for another 10 years, all the better!

(am I too elitist to think that members on an ESL - or any other language teaching board - should actually have very good language skills??? You know, like )basic grammar...)

Agree. Do it whilst teaching. On the newbie forum a few people suggest posters with similar queries should go an get a degree first, then come back a few years later. That isnt practical for everyone, but studying for one while teaching certainly is, thats what I did!

Was that me?? Shocked

Last point .... not all TEFL certs are created equal. And tutoring isnt always the same as taking a class of students. 5000 hours of tutor experience is a lot, but coupled with a non-standard TEFL cert, it may not be of much relevance IMO.
