Is there an age restriction for hiring at universties in uae?
I know some countries won't hire you after the age of 60.
Does this apply here?
What are the chances for older teachers?

Most employers here have a cut off of 60, though there may be some exceptions (not likely for teachers)

Most employers have a cut-off in the mid-late 50s. Exceptions are sometimes made... but normally only if the applicant has 10+ plus years teaching in Middle East foundations programs to Arabic speakers.

About the only possibilities for teachers over 60 is North Africa where an experienced teacher (with at least a CELTA or equiv) can get a job in language schools. But you won't get a foreign hire contract with benefits, and it will be survival pay.

what about if you already had a contract, then turned 60 - would they re-hire if you were already on staff? Or do they force retirement on you?

2nd question: what about if you were under 60 but had a tag-along spouse who was over 60? Would there be a chance of adjunct position for spouse?

HCT and ZU have hired teachers over 60 in recent years, ESL and content. HCT has many 60+ teachers, including adjuncts. A 70+ old retired last June. I believe that medical insurance over 70 is now an issue.

Once you are there, as long as you can handle the job, most places will keep renewing the contract. The details for adjuncts mostly depend on availability, so age shouldn't be an issue.

In my experience, so long as you are healthy and don't put too many demands on the health insurance provided, HCT is happy to renew the employee. Sometimes though it's on a yearly basis rather than the regular 3 year contract
