Hi,

I am working in Japan as an ALT on an Instructor Visa, but I have begun looking for other jobs for an April start.

One prospective employer has said that I would need to change my visa to a Humanities one, even though I would be working in a public school as an ALT. Apparently they have only been given permission to employ people with a Humanities visa...

Can somebody clarify this for me please? I haven't been offered an interview yet, but naturally I will ask about it if/when the time comes.

Whichever job is your PRIMARY job, you keep that kind of visa. Then you apply for permission to engage in activities outside of your visa or some such thing for your other job, takes a few weeks I think.
