Our English group in Istanbul meets five days a week: at 7 p.m. Mon. Wed. and Fri in Beyoglu, at Union Han, No. 237 Istiklal Caddesi, the main pedestrian mall in the center of Istanbul, and also at the same location on Thursdays at 6:30 p.m.. (The bronze numbers on the Union Han building say No 483 - 485, and all you have to do is push on the gate to make it open, and walk down to the last door on the left and go upstairs.) Monday is open step, Wed. open big book, Friday is open discussion, but Thursday's 11th Step meeting is closed, for alcoholics only

The Sunday promises meeting, closed type, is at 4:15 p.m. at the Turkuaz Turkish AA Group's place in Harbiye, on a side street directly across the main road from the Hilton Istanbul and TRT Turkish radio and television building - the address is Cebel Topu Sokak No. 3 (No. 11 in the old street numbering system as seen in the gold lettering on the window), 3rd floor. Google Maps Link: <http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Istanbul,+Turkey&ll=41.045586,28.986579&spn=0.003811,0.007929&t=h&z=17>

I also attach a map to our Beyoglu location. From the old city in Sultanahmet you can get to both meetings by public transport...for our weekday meetings take the tram that says KABATAS and get off at the first stop after you cross the bridge over the Golden Horn, which is the KARAKOY stop. Follow directions for TUNEL, which is an underground train that takes you to the top of the hill at Istiklal Caddesi. The Union Han building is only 75 meters from there, immediately to the left of the Swedish Consulate as you are facing it.

For the Sunday meeting you want to get to Taksim, which you also reach via the tram, getting off at the last stop, KABATAS. Follow the signs for FUNiCULAR to Taksim, another simple underground ride to the top of the ridge. The meeting place is about five minutes walk up Cumhurriyet Caddesi, or two bus stops, or a very short taxi ride.
