Dear Al-Mansoor,
Well, my location says Santa Fe, NM. Of course, with a location such as Sheik N Bake has, I can see how some confusion might result.
I left Saudi in 2003, having spent nineteen years there working for the IPA in Jeddah ( four years) and Riyadh (fifteen years.)
Regards,

I am in Saudi, Qassim. One presumptuous newbie here had the gall to suggest I didn't actually live here, in a post some weeks ago. And that as an American I shouldn't read US embassy warnings! Well..I've been on Dave's for about a decade, and people who know me know I don't make up things like that just to make a point. Newbies should keep silly thoughts to themselves until THEY are trusted. |

I am told there are teaching vacancies in Qassim. How does it compare to the likes of Jeddah? |

I am "using creative ways" to write this message from within the hidden kingdom.
Another possible reason that the site is being blocked is all the bad press PMU has been getting on this site recently.
I'm embarrassed for the short-sighted and reactive approach. I feel pity towards the people that think this is the only solution (besides honestly trying to fix things).
Just one more way I feel alone and isolated in this place. At least the pay is good.
I feel like Charlie Brown who woke up on Christmas morning and found a rock in his stocking.
Welcome to China Jr. |

| Saudi is doing what facist states can do. The funny thing is, I am sure they are just being ostriches. They don't have to look at what is being posted and read in the rest of the world and what will keep any reasonably intelligent person from ever going to the Kingdom for work. In facrt, the blocking of Dave's will definitely prove what the various threads have been saying all along. And Dave would be foolish to allow recruiters and other to advertise positions in the Kingdom so long as his site is being blocked. |

| The right thing for dave to do would be to cut off all advertising from the Kingdom so long as the website is blocked. |

Arrggghhh! Christmas is evil. Did ye not know this? This is what certain quarters of immigrants in Europe have been saying. Well that's what you get when you allow 5 or 10% of your country's population to come from certain regions! Please don't let this happen in my own country, please please. |

Qassim is dreary, ugly, scrubby and Buraidah is a hellish place. Onaizah is a bit better, friendlier and more road-friendly. Qassim and Buraidah feature the worst driving I've ever seen anywhere, and I've driven almost everywhere.
It's not worth it to come here unless you are a strict practicing Muslim and/or your salary is really impressive. You won't get the big bucks at Qassim University, I can guarantee you; and the military base where I work is not hiring EFL people at the moment. |

As we said above... ad revenues are what keeps this place up and running... as long as the check clears what does he care if the forums are blocked for those who don't care to get around it with a proxy?
It seems to be moot now that we have one person who just got on without a proxy.
