Brasscat, we demand that expose you promised about Jeddah like a month or so ago!

With regards to the exchange between Grendal and Al-Mansoor, I agree with the latter. You should judge a book by the actions of its followers/readers. If X gives up on the teachings of a certain book because of the actions of Y who also happens to be a follower of the same book, but whose actions happen to be contrary to the book itself, then that shows lack of faith on the part of X. That's not Y's fault.

There will always be hypocrites in the world, and one shouldn't lose one's faith or belief in a certain code/religion because of the hypocrites' actions.

Dear trap,

True - but faith becomes harder to sustain for most when surrounded by fellow practitioners who so often exhibit rank hypocrisy.

Your point is logical - but faith isn't.

Regards,
John

True and well said John. Those of us who claim to have faith struggle everyday and I guess it's a constant struggle, albeit a more difficult one, when one is abroad and away from family.

I have indeed been talking about Jeddah in another thread for a week.

I didn't want to go off topic here.

I couldn't find it either.

I answered a fellows inquiry about American Higher Education; the Jeddah post.

Also did a follow-up on the living conditions in Jeddah.

Guess a new thread is called for.

Presently I am in Florida recovering from surgery. In about 3 weeks it will be either Al-Ain, UAE or Kabul, Afghanistan.

I will update things then.

Is Afghanistan a wise place to go to after surgery?

I had a severe sinus infection from black mold. My bedroom ceiling in Jeddah was covered with it.

Fortunately my doctor did a fine job on Dec. 9th. I have one more recheck on 6 January to make sure I am ready to travel.

No, I know this man. He really is naive enough to believe that ESL teachers
Could form a union in KSA and that the embassy will rescue people. He tells a lot of confusing stories in which he is the hero. Harmless but not very credible. Brasscat, no serious offense intended.

At least I am suggesting ideas, instead of sitting around and moaning about the miseries.

As far as credibility goes, I reached out and helped my fellow teachers instead of dissing them.

As anyone can see my earlier words about PMU and Oryx I were both true and verified, but it took another teacher's woes for you to believe it.

If you really know me, you know I don't sit around and do nothing when a problem needs to be solved.

Hope you recover well from your surgery, brasscat. Black mold? That sounds nasty. I always wondered what lovely little illnesses many of us came home with after living in Oryx, especially with the toxic water and the lack of any kind of filter system in the airconditioning and heating.

BC, I don't believe everything that you told us at PMU about your past life, but I do respect you for having the kindness and concern to get "Aussie Bill" out of KSA. This was a case when a man desperately needed help, and you put your job on the line to get him home. You did it in a more dramatic way than I would have chosen, but sometimes drama is needed to get anything done in KSA.
