Another candidate for the 'Rude School' category is this lot, the London Empire Academy in West London.
They summoned me to two interviews, one of which involved me preparing a lesson plan for an EAP lesson.
Since then ... nothing! I even sent a follow-up email asking them if they had made a decision yet, but it was ignored by the two foreigners who interviewed me.
What's wrong with these people? I have invested something like eight hours of my time in travelling to interviews and preparing for them, and they don't even have the grace to reply to a simple e-mail and tell me my services are not required.
It's a tin-pot school anyway. I don't know where they got the notion of 'Empire' from - maybe they had the Empire of Abyssinia in mind?! |

Quite amazingly, more than a month after my second interview with this shabby outfit, they call me and ask me if I'm still interested in the job!
In fact it must have been one of the students who called me, as his accent was so bad I could barely undertand him. Or maybe he was the ADOS?!
Anyway, the post has now been readvertised on tefl.com. Do yourself a favour and AVOID this tacky place if you can! |

GriffinParka,
You haven't been very lucky in your treatment by LSE or London Empire Academy.
This is quite surprising, as they are both licensed sponsors under the Tier 4 points-based system and accredited by the British Council.
I think if I were you, I'd contact the British Council accreditation dept and put in a written complaint. The BC will investigate. |

The British Council accreditation scheme doesn't cover the people who work for a company being arseholes: it only looks at whether or not the school has adequately qualified teachers and admin staff.
Being a tier 4 sponsor has nothing to do with a school's HR policies: the UKBA don't give a fuck about that. Indeed, being an A-rated tier 4 sponsor is very soon to mean diddly squat. Highly Trusted Sponsor status and Extended Student Visitor Visas are the new reality. |

Would you like to lay a little wager on that?
BC 'accreditation' is meaningless semantics, which all but the most dire, hole-in-the wall, fly-by-night operators can obtain. |
