Ha, nice artwork. For la turista, I often recall a Cheech and Chong sequence from Up in Smoke (c'monnnn cheeks...stay together!)
Here's what the site says...
DUKORAL - The only vaccine for Travellers' Diarrhea caused by enterotoxigenic E. coli
It seems to cover a single, albeit common bacteria, other sites warn about its lack of effectiveness, and the patent is less than 10 years old. Not exactly "45 years out of date" now is it? |

The ad does indeed imply that.

I don't know what brand name or specific product the kids were vaccinated with. It's possible that others now exist.
At the moment I don't have a great enough interest in, nor a need to investigate other sites, but your comments should probably be heeded by travellers who do.

Perhaps there is some confusion about what I regarded as being out of date? Allow me to clarify... it was the poster's general immunization history, not their knowledge of a particular product.

I'm sorry, I guess I misunderstood.
Ever notice how we call turista Montezuma's Revenge and yet the Aztec emperor cited is actually named Moctezuma?
In 10 years here, I've suffered la turista twice...the very first week I arrived after a suspicious street hot dog and years later from a fish concoction in Acapulco with the latter requiring an IV drip late one night at the Red Cross. |

Hi!
While you're talking about Guadalajara, does anyone here have experience with the ITTO's course there (http://www.cactustefl.com/tefl/course.php?course_id=2873)? Yes, I know there's a TEFL course forum here, but when I tried posting there the auto-filter chided me for "naughty" language in a perfectly clean post, and I couldn't post it. Go figure.
Anyway, is it worth the $1400? Do they help with placement like they promise, and does anybody respect the certificate? Mind you, I mostly want the training for its own sake, but if it actually opens doors that's some nice gravy.
Thanks!

| I know this is off-topic, but I have to ask: Guy, is your new avatar a photo of an addition to your familial menagerie? Love the ears! |

For Gregd75,
Could you please tell me how I can become a member of MEXTESOL? Also when and where is this meet and greet that you recommended to me? I would love to go to it. I just bought plane tickets for Guadalajara for February 11th. Very excited!!!!! |

That's the fault of the conquistadores. They were too lazy, or incapable of pronouncing native names properly. There are a few other notable ones:
Tlacopan > Tacuba
Cuauhtmoc > Guatamuz
Huitzilipochli > Huichilobos (although we eventually returned to the original with the last two). |
