No way will it be snowing in early September.

Early September is late summer: around 20C is average. T-shirts, a light sweater and a light jacket (just in case) but nothing more: definitely no woolies.

I suspect Mr Lund may have been joking, although if he wasn't, I shall personally remind him tomorrow that he is a whining American namby-pamby.

August is late Summer! Summer just came and now it's fall!

What to wear, jeans, long-sleeved shirt/ t-shirt, sweatshirt and/or a windbreaker. Just in case, bring a jacket that can handle colder weather and a beanie.

Just be ready for anything and everything!

Thanks for the tips, I think I've got it now! I'm a warm blooded creature anyway. Although I live in Mexico, I'm originally from England, and I didn't even own a sweater in England for about 10 years before I left. Definitely not like those whining gringos! Laughing

It all depends on your definition of winter.

I have spent the last two winters in Poland; as a Canadian who lived in Montreal I have decided the Poles are a bunch of wusses!

This past winter we had an accumulated total of about 30 cm of snow and half a cm of ice. All of which they diligently shovelled off of the roofs and onto the sidewalks. and left it there!! As new snow fell they spread sand everywhere and it was like walking in 15 cm of brown sugar (on top of the ice) The sidewalks were then cleared after it started to melt in March/April.

The heat at my school was set on high without proper ventilation and students didn't seem to understand that it is normal to wear sweaters indoors in winter.

Ah the Poles, they are special

Mir

Here in Mexico they put a scarf around the face when the temperature dips below 15C in the morning!

Snow by early October - the experts predicted. It came around November 20 where I am living (close to Warsaw).
The coldest winter since goodness knows when - the experts predicted. Since November there have probably only been three mornings where I have stepped outside and felt very uncomfortable. I mean -20 to -23 uncomfortable. The snow disappeared last week, and temperatures got up to 8c. It hasn't snowed that much at all.
In sum, I never check the weather forecast anymore - even for the next day.

with all that said, winter has just begun, dude. you're only a month in. enjoy what's left of January along with all of feb/march/april.

also, november/december this year was the snowiest times I've ever seen in Poland. in december, every few days another storm would come.
