|
|
Hello everyone
I'm considering applying to be a teacher on one of the Summer Courses run by Accent. It would be teaching a closed group of Italian teenagers, in Cambridge. I was just wondering if anyone has taught with Accent before or knows anything about this organisation. Also, this is the sixty million dollar question but can anyone recommend any reputable residential Summer Schools in the UK which do not involve supervisory duties. I do not object to the odd excursion or activity but it's going the whole hog of teaching and acting as an activities organiser as well as a housemistress which I can't really endure again. I've been there, done that and have a couple of horrendous experiences to show for it.
Thank you in advance for any advice/suggestions |

hi..go for it .
I worked for Accent last year and it was my first teaching experience. all the work colleagues were awesome, we shared a nice cosy flat in Cambridge, and the manager is lovely. what else can I say?
honestly don't worry and accept the job. accnt is great. |

Thank you for your reply. It is good to hear that you had a positive experience working for Accent. My only hesitation is that 30 hours is quite a lot and I don't think that the pay reflects that. In fact, the pay is considerably meagre compared with other schools. I do appreciate that you're not required to do residential duties, or to work weekends. Did you have to pay for accommodation or was it included?
Thanks |

I only have good things to say about ELAC. Next year will be my 5th year with them. They have centres in Nottingham, Horsham, Kingston and 2 in Eastbourne.
They're a very professional bunch, always pay on time, you don't have to put the kids to bed and you recieve a lot of support. The pay is pretty good too. |

Anybody else like to share experiences about Accent? I like Cambridge and would also prefer not to have evening duties on a summer school (I've worked on several but not for a couple of years). What are the students like, I mean how is it for six weeks of teaching only Italian teenagers? |
