Of course many guns used in Mexico are coming from the USA. But 90% is what the media and govt officials often say. Vast majority is what you said. Many is not 90% nor a vast majority.

You quoted the article saying that with scientific study not done then the article cant be taken as fact, even if it draws a logical conclusion. Alternatively, and keeping in mind the lack of exact study, suggesting that the vast majority of guns come from the USA cannot be taken as fact either. Convenient for the USA bashers isnt it.

Another GREAT post TPG! Cool

Prof,

I really dont understand why the Mexico forum lacks balance. There really is no room for anyone who isnt 100% on board with the majority view it seems. I think its sad since we are all supposed to be intelligent, patient, and tolerant people, based on our choice of lifestyle and career.

I posted an article from a 3rd party that perhaps runs against what the mass media airs and in turn im told that my post is a wild statement.

It is possible to love Mexico and still be critical of her as well. Very Happy

TPG I agree completly.

Funny that I have lived in Mexico for more than six years, worked here, spent money here, worked hard as a teacher to better my many students through the years, but having a diff POV seems to not be "appreciated" by some. Rolling Eyes Laughing

Never fear, I'll still continue to post and add some balance Cool

Those that hate Mexico or have no understanding about Mexico, it's people, history, culture etc are not living and working in Mexico. Surprised

They are somewhere else. Shocked

Want proof? Just check out any Yahoo News article about Mexico and check the comments section.

Very true. Some on here are just as in the dark about the current Mexico as those Mexico bashers on yahoo.

The article states that the majority of the guns submitted to the US for tracking originated in the US. But a very small minority of seized guns were sent the the US for tracking. So yes, the majority of the minority were of American origin.

Please stay on topic. One off-topic posting has been deleted.

Bashing any nationality only because it fits a personal agenda will get a member banned here very quickly.

This is the only warning that will be posted on this thread before things go to the next level.

MOD EDIT

Open call to anyone who can back up wild statements/rhetoric spit out in the media and on this very forum about America supplying the vast majority of weapons used in Mexico. I quoted the US Congressional investigative arm for my numbers. Sources of similar standing please.

Again, loving Mexico and being critical of her (where founded) can co-exist.

Sure--- look back at my previous posts with statements drawn from the exact same report.

In black and white it accepts that firearms are coming from the U.S.A to Mexico.

Vast majority / majority... I'm happy to withdraw my statement of VAST majority for arguements sake.... there are still a lot of illegal U.S sourced weapons in Mexico... according to the report that was quoted previously (however it was selevtively quoted)

If anyone has been guilty of selecting quotes to suit their stance it is surely you.

You still insist the report states the majority of arms used in Mexico originate from the US. The report clearly states that only a minority (24% iirc) were sent to the US to be traced and of those a majority were found to be American in origin. So a MAJORITY of the MINORITY.
