Hi, I was just wondering if anyone has applied to teach in China via Titicaca travel? I've received several emails from them asking if I was still interested in teaching English, although I've been hesitant to reply back because I'm concerned about the company's legitimacy (or whether it might be another scam).

Any info would be very much appreciated!

Let's say you do work for Titicaca Travel. Can you state that with a straight face during your next job interview?

I used them to get my university teaching job in China. They are legitimate, but they do charge a fee. Sure, you can get a job without paying a recruiter a fee, but they made it easy. I was told by my contact there that they are changing their name.

Paying a fee, are you kidding me. Is this thread really an advertisement?

Encouraging dishonesty, such as advising prospects that "it would not be right for me to ask you to fake your own English teaching experience, but it may be a good idea to stretch your experiences to make you more employable, or at least to make it easier for the school to apply a work permit for you" makes Jimmy Zhang illegitimate, IMHO.

Titicaca has been acquired by Jimmy China UK. This re-branding allows them to drop the tours services which they used to offer and to concentrate on the teaching recruitment services. The new web site is:

Heather Wang is my contact there.
