Raman mentioned the WTO. IS VN a member of any organisations that have rules about this sort of thing?

it is my understanding that vn has been accepted and is not a part of the WTO a few years back. i don't think WTO is fully aware of what's going on with vn's banking system. Razz

Vietnam became a member of WTO in 2007.

I don't recall the details of the WTO rules. I also assume that some countries can (and do) break or bend some of the rules of WTO.

Why do you need USD if you are leaving Vietnam? One can get all other currencies at the official exchange rate-one generally doesn't need USD.

Regarding your landlord, why would you pay him in USD? Just say no and if he doesn't like it than move, if I was a landlord I would also ask for USD and if my renters agreed i would be laughing all the way to the bank.

I do not mind paying in dollars, what I do mind is having to run around in a city looking for places that exchange currency into the ever so much desired $$$ when I haven't a clue how to do it.

My employer bends the rules, I bend the rules and my landlord bends the rules, so pretty much everybody bends the rules.

All I ask is a little help in bending them too!!!
