I'm thinking of studying for a degree in education at a university in Queretaro. I already have a degree from France but in languages. I've been told to get accepted I need to get my A-level certificate (I'm from the UK, high school certificate I guess in the US) certified so they know it's equivalent to the requirements for Mexican students. Has anyone done this? What do I need to do? I'd be grateful for any info you have.

Your best bet would be to contact the school you want to study at, requirements can vary, with government schools being the strictest, and private ones, sometimes, less so. I applied for two different Masters programs, one had a list of requirements as long as your leg, including my HS diploma, my college diploma, HS transcripts, college transcripts, an essay, an interview, translations on anything not in Spanish. letters of recommendation, both personal and professional, birth certiciate, and I cant even remember what else. I didnt even bother to try to get them together. HS transcipt for what, when I have a higer degree??!! The other school wanted me to take an admissions test, see my Bachelors degree and have an interview with me. Maybe this is a no brainer, but do you already speak Spanish? They will most likely have you take a course to make sure you can function in Spanish at an advanced academic level. Anyway, talk to them, explain what you have so far, the course you are interested in taking and see what they say, sometimes there is flexability on some items at some schools.

Thanks Teresa. Yes, I speak Spanish, virtually fluently so hopefully the language test won't be an issue. I told the person I spoke to on the phone that I already had a degree but she still insisted I needed to get my high school documents credited. I think I'll decide on which of the universities I want to go to and then go down there in person with my diplomas and see if it really is necessary. Thanks again.

By accredited, might she mean apostilled and officially translated?

If you need to get your A-Levels validated by the SEP it's one headache after another - and a very long process. Start now if you want to start uni in August.

Yeah, that is the truth. Yikes. Maybe you need tol clarify exactly what she means by having it acredited. Does she realize you already have a degree?
