Sohar isnt far away from Al Ain.
Have you heard about the Sohar Music Festival?
Hopefully it will be held again in Oct/Nov. time...
Details are available at www.soharmusicfestival.com . |

Mostly outdoor activities are popular... lots of wadis to bash and beaches to visit. Interesting small villages scattered around the mountains... Hiking? Camping? Diving?
There are some small museums in Muscat. The old souq in the port area of Muscat is fun to visit.

Think beyond that little town which may or may not have much of anything on offer. Oman is a good sized country... pick up a guidebook in the local bookstore or google...
Talk to your fellow teachers and other expats in the area as to what to do and see in Oman.

I'm afraid there's nothing much to do in 'that town.' There's a small souq and that's about it. Al Ain has a lot more to offer. Or why don't you just go to Dubai? |

Has Buraimi University closed? I used to know people who worked there - some lived in Al Ain, others in Buraimi. The Buraimi Hotel used to do an expatcentric quiz-night but not sure that it still goes on now the border takes longer to cross.
There's loads to see just over the border - join the Emirates Natural History Group's Al Ain branch as most of their weekend trips seem to be to Oman. |
