Well, I know there's no 'right' answer. Just for experience, I filled it in. This is for a summer course and they told me that their courses got filled up very quickly. I have just got the interview date for it - almost 5 weeks from now. So when the date finally rolls around, I will be interested to see what they ask me, as the interview is based on the application form questions.

Can you please spill the beans as to which country and which school this summer course takes place?

It is for a CELTA at an institution in the UK. I need to keep my options open at the moment so think it best to spill no more beans at present!

I see no problem with the question.when I did my celta I observed a lesson of mostly Arab men and women. It was about women doing traditional lens jobs like engineering or building work. The arab young men argued strongly it was immoral. The Arab young women argued against it. Uk is a relatively liberal society. In japan for example divorce is still a shame.

Of course us Brits don't stereotype except for the oily, wine guzzling rude onion carrying French (lol)

Seriously though you have to be generally aware of cultural issues. Makes great lessons to argue in English about these sort of things!

Well I am not sure I can actually take part in this interview as it is at a fixed time in the middle of the day. I already teach full-time so I am uncertain if I can take time off for it - it's an unnecessary qualification for my present job, but I can only ask... I am a little surprised as the people at the other place who interviewed me and accepted me were really accommodating and friendly, even sending me info on places to do the (now defunct) CELTYL, in case that suited me better. They seemed really positive in comparison. So alas I may never know the reason for the nationalities questions!
