I thought I'd bump this thread (please ignore the second one which I'd just created yesterday!)

Could anyone add any information to this? It's perhaps a tough question, as there aren't many people taking this route (as far as I'm aware).

I'm experiencing some slight ambivalence taking this route (MA TESOL without a BA) for fear of being rejected by immigration/employers (sounds as though I can already cross Thailand, Korea, and Taiwan off the list).

Quite interested in working in UAE one day.

Wow, I had no idea that one could get an M.A. without a B.A. I never heard of anyone doing that in Canada or the U.S. Is this something done in the U.K.? I am surprised anyone could accepted into an M.A. program without a B.A. How does that happen?

Yeah neither did I until I'd met someone who did. It's through Nottingham University. It's a UK school, but the have another campus in Malaysia.

I was accepted based on my experience and certificates (and to be honest, probably for profit reasons as well.)

Think it's even less common in North-America (perhaps non-existant!)

I know five or six people with no BA and who have MAs from very reputable British universities. Experience and publications in advance of applying for the MA study were some of the keys to getting in.

spiral - this was in UAE I'm assuming? Sounds promising (and logical). I'm wondering if they're picky about where they gained the experience?

The better the employer, the pickier they will be. The top of the heap will expect a few years of "related experience."

Hopefully an MA along with some relavant experience would make a missing BA irrelevant. Thanks.

metateacher - Sounds good! Would you recommend I get sufficient experience before going to UAE, or could I perhaps get it there? I have 6+ years of experience, but not at the university level.
