OP, it seems you're at a dead end and can't persuade them to pay you your due and have decided to bite the bullet and complete your contract. The poster quoted below may think your weak for not fighting hard enough but it's your job and life. But I really wouldn't bother with arbitration for a few hours pay. Principle or no principle. You may not like tit for tat but I'd be trying to get my own back somehow.

What is your overtime rate? 60rmb is about average for a college/uni...
60x16 weeks of class = 960rmb x 2 semesters= 1920rmb
A kilo of beef.... 24rmb

It is 800 for the first semester and about 1400 for the second. You can do the math. I am done there this year, and I will probably seek employment in the north somewhere, or leave China for good. I need a break from all the BS which seems more prevalent in the south.
To answer your query, it is 16 ACH a week. At this school the classes are 40 minutes each. Overtime is paid at 100 RMB per ACH. |

I don't know what "ACH" stands for - - Academic Class Hours? Actual Class Hours? If you've been contracted to work 16 class hours a week, then that would work out to 16 x 60 minutes per week, or 960 minutes per week. If you are teaching 17 x 40 minutes per week, then that comes to 680 minutes. The other 280 minutes would be reserved for lesson preparation, I suppose. But if your contract states 16 class PERIODS per week (regardless of length of each period) then, again, yes you are working overtime.
Perhaps it would be wise to clarify with FAO exactly what they are/were implying in the contract when they signed you to work 16 "hours" per week. |

| The time is set at a standard class of 40 minutes=1ACH (Academic class hour.) This is the time frame that is reflected in the contract. |

Gotcha. So your contract does actually state "16 Academic Class Hours (ACH) at 40 minutes each" (or some such similar statement). Then you have every right to complain and ask for extra compensation.
But if it was just, er, UNDERSTOOD, that 16 class hours may mean 16 ACH, then you may want to clarify the situation with your school's powers-that-be.
