Does anyone know the address (in Chinese) of the Jinan (Shandong) PSB Entry Exit Bureau offices? I just changed jobs in (early) mid-term and need to transfer my existing resident permit over to my new location (still within Shandong province).
Our middle school had 11 foreigners all teaching language and basic sciences and the school essentially fired all us one morning after our first class of the day claiming they no longer wanted to pay for us to do our job. We're in the midst of doing a "class action" against them, but we all found replacement jobs.
If you know the Chinese address of the PSB in Jinan, I would appreciate it.
Also, I'm interested in getting a driver's license now and hopefully someone also knows the Jinan address for getting the license.
Thanks. |

Here is your local visa office:
Jinan (Shandong)
Address: Corner of Jing San and Wei Si Road, Shi Zhong District, Jinan
市中区经三纬四路交界处
Hour: Mon-Fri 8:30-12:00 and 13:00- 17:00
Contact: 0531-8508 1088
Why isn't your new school handling this?
Please tell what school 'essentially' fired 11 teachers in one day? There is more to the story....
Ask a Chinese person where the nearest driving school is located. It will cost about 3000rmb if you have to take a course and more for the gov't processing. My opinion, don't do it. Take the bus or a taxi.
Good luck.. |

My new school will do it, but the FAO is out of town for the next 11 days and I want to get the permit done so there is no issue of my relocation to the city.
There is more to the story? No. The school also let 14 Chinese teachers go along with all 11 of the foreigners. Three of the foreigners were there more than 3 years and 4 just signed on for another year (having a spring contract start). I was there for nearly two years. Nobody had any issues. It's a financial thing with reorganization of the cities public schools. There is no "more to the story." 4 of the teachers got their new job by direct FAO-to-FAO telephone calls between our school and others.
That being said doesn't negate their contractual obligations of money, etc.
There is no need for me to take a driving class. I have an existing valid U.S. license which voids the need to take the practical/driving test, leaving on the need to take the written/computer exam. I have a car and drive, so a taxi and bus are useless to me as my house and school are too far to make that a viable method of convenience.
Thanks for the address of the PSB. |

You cannot transfer your residence permit yourself. Your school needs to do it. If you go into the PSB and say, I don't work for this school anymore I need a new Residence permit, they will stick a tourist visa in your passport and say, "Have a nice day."
Let it be, it's only ten days. Your FAO should have a relationship with the PSB that will make the transition much smoother. |
