Since it seems that the USA is the most driving economy and SEEMS to direct the prosperity/recession of SE Asia - This is something that could affect us all here, as well.
Being a US citizen, I feel strongly that Obama is the least of necessary evil politicians needed to run my government. I'm definitely not a Republican but not really a Democrat either. American politics seems to run along right and left party lines when the answer for US citizens is somewhere in the middle! This 2 party system was designed to add balance so that both sides would be debated before a compromise is reached but these days, it seems that the right and the left just draw a line in the sand putting all others (us) at risk while laying the blame on the other party's pragmatic views.
Do you think that the leader of the free world should be ..... ?

In a choice between incompetent and insane, I'd go for incompetent every time. Alas, I'm not an American voter. |

Naw - that lying ******* SOLD OUT the American Worker AND the American Middle Class by kowtowing to the Right-Wing Corporate Elite!
Was I really THAT swept-up and swooning to actually VOTE for him in 2008?? I want my vote back!
If he really gave a **** about the working classes in the United States, several of my friends would not have had to resort to teaching English overseas basically to survive! |

These posts confirm the validity of this modern maxim:
If your candidate loses the election, you will be disappointed.
If your candidate wins the election, you will still be disappointed.
As usual. As always.

Dear Captian_Fil,
Not in my case. I voted for Obama, and I'll vote for him again in 2012, inshallah.
Sometimes people seem to forget that politics is the art of the possible.
The full quote - from Otto von Bismark (a guy who really knew politics)
Politics is the art of the possible, the attainable - the art of the next best
Of course, John Kenneth Galbraith wasn't as optimistic:
"Politics is not the art of the possible. It consists in choosing between the disastrous and the unpalatable."
Regards,
John |

Dear John,
So what's the difference?
Obama is the same as Bush:
Gitmo - still open.
Patriot Act - still active.
Iraq - still there.
Afghanistan - still there.
Libya - started a war there.
Predator strikes - still continuing.
Guess what makes this soooo funny?
Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize!
Regards,

Dear Captain_Fil.
Cleaning up big messes takes time - especially when so many others are trying to make the messes even bigger.

Dear John,
We are now involved in another big mess.
It's called Libya.
This mess was unnecessary. It's a potential quagmire that will cost billions and billions of tax dollars.
Of course, US troops will eventually be sent to Libya: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2011/04/07/501364/main20051760.shtml
It seems that the one who was suppose to clean up big messes, doesn't know how to clean up any messes. But he knows to create more messes.
Regards,
CF

A President who runs on the slogan change hasn't changed anything. Politicians are liars, nothing new there, but don't paint a picture of a guy with his hands tied to justify him.
President can, recall all troops, veto spending on any military action, stop giving away the cash strapped taxpayers money to foreign nations...
Will he or the next guy do this, no. They have taken too much already and we are simply living in the aftermath of a deceased nation. I for one am happy I have never voted. Voting means giving your consent. If you feel/felt all parties are/were bad why would/did you give consent?
MOD EDIT - If you repeat the behavior, you will no longer be a part of our community. |

Dear John,
YES. Thank you. We had a President that used 8 years to demolish, expecting Obama to reverse that in 4 is unrealistic and unfair. It's easier to knock down a building than to rebuild.
-Me.
Seriously though, I would rather have Obama/Biden in the white house for 20 years if it meant keeping hate mongering bigots out. Spreading fear and anger is no way to lead a country. If voting for Obama means, for example, keeping Palin the heck away from Washington, then yes. I will vote for him again. |

Sorry, chaiplz.
But Obama isn't that much different than Bush. Especially, in foreign policy and economics.
The truth hurts.

Dear Captain_Fil,
Your truth may hurt you, but my truth doesn't hurt me. Your "truth" is an opinion, just as mine is.
