Contract states can be sent out to other schools (no location stated or how many on contract).

I think they have one contract before arrival and another after arrival - which seem common for many schools/programs/recruiters.

I thought the visa had to have the school name on it.

It's a gray area. Yes, your FEC/RP is issued for one school/business. But if your boss wants to pimp you out, no one except you can stop him/her.

Just avoid the situation. They usually end in a burnt-out teacher and a fat boss.

Always ask; How many schools do I teach at? How far is my apartment from where I will teach? Do I have to work at several locations?

The commute in most cities will kill you and most schools won't pay commute time.

My friend worked for a place and they farmed him out everyday. Spent more unpaid time on buses and trains then in a classroom.

About 9 hours a day while getting paid for 4. His contract said 20 teaching hours a week and that's what he was paid for. a 45 minute class counted as 45 minutes and he spent 2-3 hours a day in public transport.

That is a serious concern of mine - I will be in a new environment - how in the world will I know how to get around to many places? - at least at first - also they say I have to have receipts to get reimbursed for travel between schools - that seems complicated since I don't read Chinese.

Address of the school is not listed on contract - looked up name of school and 10 different addresses pop up on google. Exact location of school should be on contract.

I asked for pictures of school and apartment. I asked to speak to other teachers there. None of this has happened.

I was told it was private housing - now it is shared.
I was told one school - nearby housing.

None of this is in contract.

So I have to negotiate.

The traveling is easy, just ask the "boss" to write the address of the school in Chinese on the back of a business card. Have 1 card for each school they send you to. Show the card to the taxi driver and before getting out say "Fapiao" (receipt). The fapiao should come out of the meter, so sit in the front.

I do agree with what another wrote about spending more time traveling than being paid for. Ideally, they'll just send you to 1 school per day as opposed to 1 school in the morning and another in the afternoon.

I am being told it is a "number" of schools. No number - maybe they don't know - just farming teachers out on a daily basis.

I am applying more places. Most kindies keep a teacher in one location. Most Universities keep a teacher in one location (multiple classes in different buildings but not all over a city).
