Name some family-oriented or family-friendly neighborhoods. In New Jersey, I would recommend Fair Lawn or Parsippany, but I would NOT recommend Jersey City or Newark. Laughing

Also, if we bring our daughter to Turkey, can she study at an international school with the curriculum in English? Or do all you foreign teachers' children have to study all day long in Turkish?

It's Turkey -they do family pretty well there.

We are weighing up whether or not to return, and I have to say that Istanbul is not going to give you the best quality of life if you have a family, but it's where the jobs and money are. Plus it's an exciting place to be -but far too many roads, too few pavements and too many dodgy drivers for my liking when considering the kids.

I suppose anywhere on the Asian side near the coast would be good, there's a nice long strip of coast full of playground parks, for example, between Bostanci and Maltepe. Bostanci has good travel links to the rest of the city & islands, bit soulless, but would get my vote.

As for schools in English medium, you can get them but will pay through the nose at the international ones -way beyond the salary range of EFL teachers. Some Anandolu Lycees are English medium for a year or two, but how you get into them I don't know.
