Am I over-reacting, and should I just turn a blind eye and deal with the harassment?
Yes, you're over-reacting, just join 'em, and have a nice time!

No, but you shouldn't be upset by it, it's China, and things are done differently in China.

No, you're on target, but instead of leaving, stay and make a difference by preventing predatory teachers from ruining sexually immature students.

The post appears to be a fake or overblown.

The OP was too vague. And, frankly speaking, the OP seems to have little knowledge about standard procedures within post-secondary education.

If the situation is real, the culprit would get what's coming to them. CT fearing the blackmail of a foreigner in their own country. Gee, anyone who has a clue about China would know about relationships as well as the historical relations of China with foreigners. That said, it doesn't take much for a foreigner to burn some bridges and end up with some serious trouble.

OP, it seems you teach at a language center of some sort, as you said there are adults as well as children. That said, the picture taking in itself is not unethical as long as they were willing. Looking at your side of it, well, it is unethical to bully a co-worker for not getting involved. Personally, I don't see why they would want you in on it. They have their pick of the girls from they way you talk about it, why would they want to limit their pool by letting another shark in.

Also, the scenario described would have to have the administration actively involved. Many a ladies of the night have been know to take English lessons. Many businessmen have been know to diversify their investments.

After OP's last post, he sure came off as a drama queen when first creating this thread. Made it sound like a major case of pedophilia.

If the girls are over 18, nothing can be done. Unethical is not the same is illegal. You may have an unprofessional work environment, but they aren't going to get in trouble for anything.

If you feel uncomfortable with the situation, go elsewhere.

I guess I caught this one late, but now I have a different question. Is this guy a native English speaker? I might have missed it, but I don't recall him ever really giving any hint of where he is from. That might explain some of the odd-ness to this post.

Non-native English speakers is on my mind because my GF lives with a girl from the Philippines who doesn't speak Chinese but was hired by a Chinese company to do some work for them in English. All fine and good so far. When I first met her I expected an some misunderstandings due to tone and pronunciation, (I come from Asian-part-Toronto so I am use to this ), but the girl cant understand me and her written English is even worse.

Anyway, it got me thinking perhaps that was the reason for our collective inability to fully comprehend the OP, and his often bizarre linguistic gymnastics might have misled us from the more serious possibility and nature of the situation? I think we all feel for him ( or did for a bit ), but he lost most of us somewhere after the 2nd/3rd post.

I believe you are thinking too much. The OP is just batshit nuts.

..international pornography ring.....

Good luck with that theory Captain Courageous.

As much as I would not want to teach for a school like he describes, I also would not want to be within a 100 mile radius of the OP himself. He may see me smoking some Marlboros my family sent me and believe I am a kingpin of an international cigarette smuggling ring.
