All I can say is: passport covers are great!
spiral, when does your citizenship come through? My Peruvian one was fast, ironcially, I'll have to go to Romania to get the Romanian one, something that I should have had when I was born |

It's probably not unreasonable to expect that someone who wants citizenship would be at least physically standing in the country when it's granted. |

You mean I can't get US citizenship from here? Can you just give me yours? |
Only if you're going to take full responsibility for it in future, feeding its IRS regularly with paperwork, standing properly for its anthem, praising its football teams (and no, I don't mean soccer!), and taking its politicians seriously. |

If it's naturalisation, I understand, but citizenship due to descent? Come on: that I don't understand.
For example, our child who will be born in Korea will be given American and Peruvian citizenship, and doesn't have to go to either country to get it.
Same with me. I'm not getting naturalised as a Romanian citizen. Tha'ts the difference. I'm claiming citizenship that is rightly mine. t I don't have to live in the country, or be married to a citizen, or speak the langauge, or pass any tests. I get it because my mom Is Romanian and my grandfather was (he passed away) My mother was and still IS Romanian, the Min of the Interior has confirmed it, yet I still have to go there . . . |

Must be true then. What does it say about the corresponding duties that go with this right? |

The advantages of being a woman and not being Israeli You forgot taxes. those are fun. Those are the reason I would give up US citizenship. Though I've heard you have to provide tax records for the past five years. And since I transpose numbers and write the wrong SSN down, that could be a problem . . . Nothing done deliberately, but after spending 10, 15, 20 hours on tax forms, everything starts to look alike.
Are you British? |

No military service for you, but for male offspring? Should they wish to avail of this right, they may have to bear arms... Just like with Greek citizenship... |

It's very nice that you feel such a strong connection to your mother's home country that you've gone to such a lot of trouble to get citizenship there.
Have you been able to spend much time in Romania?
When do you plan to move there?
What kinds of work will you do there?
Do you plan to raise your children as Romanians? |
