Which one is the best? Do they pay the same?
Are all of these still recruiting?
Globnet?
Bahwan?
TATI?
CECN?
Nawa?
Are there others? |

In terms of service, they are all pretty much the same. All pay ontime and give you what you need in from them.
In terms of pay, don't quote me on this but here is the list in order from highest salary to lowest. Highest is 1450??? to lowest 1300. This is for native speakers. Not sure about non-native.
1) Al Nawah
2) Bahwan
3) TATI
4) CECN
5) Globenet
And yes, I believe all are doing recruiting for the colleges. It just depends if they have slots available at the college you want. |

Isn't the reason CECN pay less because you get a provided apartment, as opposed to the apartment allowance and misc allowance TATI pay?
As for globnet avoid, sounds like a nightmare... |

CfBT does not recruit for the Colleges of Technology.
I'm pretty sure that now CECN just provides a housing allowance instead of a flat. But may not be the case with older contracts.
I work with Globenet and honestly not as bad as people think. Yes, in terms of salary they are lower but in terms of service, they are one of the best. When you ask for something it is given to you the next day. Never had to wait on anything. |

Hi all,
I have just received this job offer through the agency Alnawa management and HRD consultant. There are so many scam e-mails about fake employment these days on the web that I'm very concerned about the matter. Could an experienced ESL on-the-site comment on the offer? Does it sound real? Do you think it's scam? BTW, other than calling the number provided by the recruiter to be certain, are there any other ways to find out if this is for real or if it's just scam? All comments, suggestions highly appreciated.

Its a real offer. I have had several offers from Oman and they are all about the same. I recieved the same one you posted this morning.
I have a friend that works in Oman, well her husband does. He works for CENA, I think and he is trying to change to these people this year.
Keep in mind this is not a contract. It it only tell you what your offer would be IF they hire you. You still need to interview with them.

It is good to be careful, but thus far there have been few scammers for Oman jobs. They have mostly been for UAE and Saudi where the pay is much higher. This would be a pretty paltry offer by the standards of Gulf scammers. (low pay, extremely short vacation, and low benefit package)
You may have been bothered by the email addresses, but many of the Oman employers use common internet accounts because the local provider's email inboxes are small and fill up quickly with people sending large attachments.
And yes, this is only an offer to be interviewed... not yet a job offer.

Hey people,
Many thanks for the update and the information. I think that after reading your comments, I am pretty sure that the job offer (the interview pending, of course, so it remains to be seen whether or not I'll be hired) looks real and it is not scam. It's a relief to know that at least it is not fake employment and that it is a beginning, whatever that may end up being!!!
@veiledsentiment, I have followed some of yor posts regarding living and teaching in Oman. Do you still recommend the Sultanate? Does it make a difference to reside in Oman rather than KSA, UAE? I feel the offer (if finally hired) is meagre (paltry as you call it), but if you were looking for peace and quiet in an Arabic country, would you take it? I'm seriously thinking about a career move from sunny southeast Spain to the Gulf Region (specifically, Oman), so your words of advice will be extremely useful. Could you keep me posted? Thanks in advance for your generous help. |

Depends on your goals and expectations, but yes, I still recommend Oman. If peace and quiet... and a more scenic environment is more important to you than salary, Oman is IMHO the best place in the Gulf. Many consider it dull and boring, especially if their interest runs to nightlife and clubbing. But, I and most of my close friends enjoyed their contracts in Oman, and some of them have been there for over 20 years.
It will be very different from Spain.

(BTW... my 'paltry' reference was about scammers. Their ads usually suggest that one will receive $4-5,000 a month plus all the well-known Gulf benefits... without requiring the education and experience that sort of salary would depend on.) |

You can only speak for yourself. They have stayed because they like their life, the job, and the students.
Why are you there?

Why do my posts bother you so much when you are in fact in California?
I picture you with a glass of wine, veins bulging at the forehead, typing out responses in your living room in your plush beach house.... |
