Plan to move there in about 5 to 10 years. Open a hostel in Iasi, Timisoara, Brasov, or Constanta. Have already talked to a couple diffrent lawyers. And plan on raising kids there. But hey, you know. things never go accordingn to plan. I'd like to think they turn out better even though sometimes they don't appear to be. Asia is good, we're thinking about the Middle East as well. It's nice to have options. We're flexible and realise things might turn out completely opposite to what we already have planned. For example, I never planned on getting married. I never planned on having kids. BUt I did (am doing) both of those. And happy
Anyways,. . .
OP, I can sympathsise with you. Embassies in Lima are difficult. It's hard for Peruvians to get visas. Even if they're married to foreigners. You might want to try calling other embassies in South America and asking them the same questions you're asking the Lima embassy. |

Spiral,
I'm curious to know more about your situation. I will soon obtain Italian citizenship and my wife and I wish to move to Europe to work. She will not be an EU passport holder yet but wants to work. What was your experience? |

When you arrive in Italy with your new Italian passport, youll go to many offices and stand in long lines and collect millions of documents to get your wife a permanent residency document that will allow her to work in Italy. This wont get her work visas for any other EU member country, though with your Italian passport YOU could get a job in Spain or France or wherever. She will be limited to Italy, but the good news is that she should be rather a hot property a non-British teacher with actual work visa through marriage.
I have a big stamp in my passport saying that I have a European Union member citizen spouse. I also have a permanent residency document (looks like a passport with photo and lots of pretty stamps) that allows me to work in my spouses home country without further hassle.
So, once you go through the paperwork hoops, she should be easily able to work in Italy. Just dont plan to move to another country!! |

I'm not sure this is true. Granted, she won't be able to work in other EU countries without extra paperwork, but I think in most cases it's doable. My wife is American (I'm a Brit) but she will be able to work in Spain - when we get there, that is.
We need toget hold of a TARJETA DE RESIDENCIA DE FAMILIAR DE CIUDADANO DE LA UNIN EUROPEA details here: http://www.mir.es/SGACAVT/extranje/ciudadanos_UE/estancia_residencia.html |

Thanks for the info. So that has been your experience? You are allowed to work only in your spouse's home country? Was that a lengthy process? |
