|
|
I've written to about 20 unis with letters of enquiry about online MA degrees and whether those who have them can apply, since both of mine are online (from legit unis mind you ) . We might end up there, so I'd like to find out before applying. ONly a couple have replied back, hopefully I'll hear from the rest soon.
OMAN
Tati: accepts online MAs
SAUDI
Damman Community College: does NOT accept online MAs, but a BA plus TEFL cert plus experience will put you in the running, though I'm guessing for less pay. |

Tati is not a university, but just one of a group of recruiters. It is not their decision to accept or not accept any credentials, that is the decision of the Ministry that they hire for...
There are lots of teachers around Oman in the various universities with online degrees, so the Ministry seems to accept them.

To be honest, I wouldn't hold out much hope of a response. Gulf employers are not known for prompt - or any - replies to general enquiries. It's not unusual for people to send applications for advertised positions and get no response for ages, then to suddenly get a request for an interview months after you'd forgotton you'd even applied to them! In your case, the person who received your email probably doesn't even know their institution's policy (if there is one) towards online degrees. So you're probably better off making your enquiries on this board.

Since the Saudi Ministry of Education does not accept online degrees, it would seem likely that all Saudi institutions will follow that policy, at least in theory. |

Ok, maybe I'll have to just be a teacher with a BA then

Give it a try anyway. I know teachers who had online MAs (done entirely by distance learning with no on-campus element) and they had teaching jobs in Saudi universities. So far as I know, they were paid the same as teachers with on-campus degrees. So even if the Ministry does not accept online degrees, individual employers may do so. |

Yes', I'll be trying. Not yet though, having the baby here and want to wait until its older before we head over to the Middle East. Would like the baby and my husband to see snow before we head towards warmer climates. |

Writing to ME unis and expecting an answer is rather like putting a note in a bottle and throwing it into the Atlantic. You MAY get a reply, but..................
These guys here do not reply to letters - or to e-mails. And especially not to speculative inquiries. |
