We have several guests coming from the US this summer. Everyone wants a cell phone of course. Some advice needed please...

Can the i-phone work here? Without excessive charges?
Is the cheap pay-as-you go a viable option?
Any other suggestions?

Many thanks if you can help.

I'm not sure about your friends' phones, but I brought in my Nokia from Asia and it works just fine.

TurkCell required my passport and visa stamp to authorize a prepaid sim card that can be refilled on demand.

I see Turkish people using a wide range of phones and Blueberry, and figure that the key brands can be used here as long as they are unlocked for international use.
