Fill the gap:

Don't ________ it with a bargepole!

PM me for more info (quite libelous, so I'm not posting it here).

Hey brownsauce, how about something non-controversial. What and who are they teaching these days? Military? Industry? Oil business?

it's a dead CERT(Can Expect Real Trouble) that it's to be avoided like the port-o-cabins they're still using, being looked down upon by the real teachers up top at HCT.Many are picked (on)but few are chosen to 'go upstairs. Is the tubby taffy still spying for the LYNX(soon to be the missing LYNX).A barge pole is to short to avoid the place try a pole vault thingy to try and get yourself over the wall.

There is a tangible malaise affecting the Abu Dhabi branches of HCT, and this extends to CERT in AD too. The general opinion seems to support the theory that the incompetent and toxic 'Chair' has effectively managed to spread her incompetence and poison to every corner of CERT, thus making it a much less than attractive place to work at than previously. Few teachers wish to remain there, and those who do are typically not the most competent of teachers or pleasant of people.

You have been warned!

I've been reading about the AD Malaise for a couple of years now. Why does it go on like this, endlessly? Does she have something on the top brass?

Well I have to agree with VS in another thread, JCB. That's a question you can find tons of answers to with a few minutes' search.

Dear Repulocrat,

Thanks so much for your glowing endorsement of HCT-CERT; I am one of the remaining few teachers (sic) however both I and my colleagues do take exception to being called not the most competent teachers or pleasant of people.

Half of what I have read on these pages referring to CERT is ill-informed gossip coming second or third hand from posters who neither work for CERT or have the faintest idea what its like to work there. The other half comes from ex-employees with axes to grind but I can confidently say that everyone I work with is in the very least content to stay where they are...............many like me know when they are onto a good thing.

IM(humble)O CERT is one of the best places for a teacher in the UAE. There is none of the micromanaged, 'macromeetinged', pointless PDing and admin interference of HCT, you're more or less left alone to do your job.

The pay and benefits are the same as HCT and if you dont have the pretentious belief that you are working in some kind of cutting edge hot house of academia (like many at HCT do) but are part of the overall state welfare system then youll do just fine.

There are much much much worse places to work and few better.

Apply through the HCT website.

CERT is definitely short staffed, more due to natural attrition than firing or resignations.

HOWEVER with all the belt tightening going on I haven't seen many of the vacant positions being filled.

Worth a try though.....

Oh, Kally Wally! There is but a trace of competent teachers over there teaching at the military end. There's a trace that followed them over from the MLI, where there was but another trace of incompetence and backstabbing.

There are some very fine people who came there from the MLI, but nary a trace is among them. I shall not mention any names, but the worst of the worst can trace his roots back to Lake Charles, Louisiana where, there is only a trace of educated folk.

It's Scary,

This kind of shop talk doesn't help anyone, especially those interested in working for CERT and looking for the skinny..

HOWEVER for what it's worth I've heard from folks on the MLP that they'd much rather be working under he 'whose name you didn't directly name but that which is known to those in the know' than the Man Who Would be King, who is apparently universally hated.

For those who have no idea what we're talking about, I still maintain that CERT is an OK place to work.
