So i,ve been teaching in Mexico for the past few years after getting my certs in Thailand/Cambodia

I want to do the DELTA and takes things eventually towards a degree

but before then its 6 months hard slog in Scotland to save 3-5 grand as a landscaper/gardener

so which Intensive/residential DELTA course would be the best bet/value for money, CONSIDERING COURSE, ACCOMODATION ETC ETC

bARCA--SEVILLE--MEXICO-LONDON-GLASGOW???????????

Unless you're hung up on the name DELTA, have you considered the Trinity Diploma in TESOL? This can be taken in distance learning mode, where you only need to find an examination centre for the written exam and to go to the host college's campus for a two week practical session. Cheaper than the 'live' courses but longer in duration.

I've recently been looking into doing either the DELTA or the Trinity Diploma. The latter looks like a more practical option for me. Do they carry equal weight with employers or is one seen as superior to the other?

Although DELTA is the default name asked for, the Trinity Dip is definitely seen as equivalent in terms of level. HOWEVER, your point about the curriculum is very important. If one course offers something specific that you might want, then that is something else in its favour.

Sorry to bring up an old post, but it's a long weekend. The Distance Delta appears to be cheaper, but you still have to travel for the two week orientation course.

With the Distance Trinity Diploma you also have to travel for 2 to 4 weeks. I'm looking at the one through St. George's in London. Yes, London is expensive, but it's only two weeks, versus the 4 week one I was looking at in Barcelona. I'm hoping to start next summer and then complete it in summer 2013.

The problem that I've run into with the delta is that it's very British Council run. So often if you're not a BC teacher, you can't do the course at their centre. At least that was my experience when I called the local BC earlier this year.
