Hi all
I'm thinking of starting a DELTA course, later this year, if possible.
Does anybody know what options are available? I'd like to continue working in Krakow while I finish the course.
I've seen the distance course website (http://www.thedistancedelta.com). A bit pricy, but at least it's flexible and I only have to leave Krakow for the two weeks' orientation session.
Any thoughts? Thanks. |

Check out Bell:

I'm doing module 3 of my DELTA with them now. If their prices haven't changed, I remember they were cheaper for some modules than the DD. I've heard the quality of the course is also higher than DD.
I did module 2 winter/spring of 2010 with Bell Warsaw. There were a couple teachers living in Krakow who would commute to Sunday sessions in Warsaw twice a month.
IH also has courses in Krakow:

DELTA will make you a better teacher, but don't expect to become a richer one - at least in Poland. At my current school in Warsaw, they offer a whopping 2zl an hour more for DELTA qualified teachers. Hurray. |

As far as I am aware, IH Krakow doesn't exist anymore. The BC now does CELTA courses in Krakow but I don't think they offer the DELTA. The only other place in Poland that I know of that offers the DELTA is IH Wroclaw. You can do an intensive summer course with them.
Intensive DELTA at IH Wroclaw
Otherwise, there are a few schools in Europe that offer the Trinity Diploma as a blended learning option. You study for the written exam for a few months and then do the practical part over two or four weeks in the summer.
It's considered equivalent to the DELTA by the BC and the UK National Qualifications Framework but I imagine it's less known about than the DELTA by language schools in Poland. |

Thanks for that
Well, the IH website says they're not offering DELTA this year (plus they haven't answered my email). So, I figure it's Bell Warsaw or www.thedistancedelta.com (two week intro at one of several global centres) plus the rest at home/internet.
The distance course requires me to find a 'Local Tutor'. Does anyone know of 'Local (DELTA) tutors'?
Shake, do you have a Local Tutor for your course? Is s/he tied to Bell?
Thanks. |
