|
|
I signed a contract with a training school. In the contract 24 classes is listed, with 16 or 18 being at a public high school. I am supposed to do the remaining classes at the training school, but almost 2 months into this I have only done one introduction class. They told me I would teach more this summer at the training school. Well, it's already June, and not that I am complaining, but I am wondering how long this will last.
On top of this, the high school students are taking tests. Last week, I only taught 10 classes as a result. This week, since they need to use all the classrooms for testing, classes have been cancelled. I have only taught like 1/6 of what I am contracted for.
Are other teachers experiencing the same thing? I wonder why the school has hired me now, cause it doesn't seem like they have time now for an English teacher. I only met the training school owner once to sign the contract. I haven't seen him since April. Is this common? I saw the owners at 2 other training schools everyday when I worked in Shenyang.
What is your summer schedule? Did they try to skip a month, like giving you a month off with no pay or something? I feel I have fallen through a crack somewhere and found a loophole in their system where they use a teacher at a training school to teach at a public school, but they don't know what to do now it seems because it's near the end of the school year.
Have any of you tried to offer them giving you less pay in exchange for letting you work a second job? |

I don't know about that. I came in this afternoon, and students and teachers are telling me it's Monday schedule. I am waiting in the office for the head English teacher to come. These people are very unorganized, but I guess I shouldn't complain.
They were telling me senior 3 might come to the training school. |

They switched Thursday to Monday schedule. Now, they want me to teach Thursday classes today (Only one class knew about this.) Err, why couldn't they have just switched Friday with Monday and have me teach Thursday on Thursday.
I sat around yesterday asking each next class if they knew why there was no English with "the foreigner" today. It was kind of humorous watching Chinese teachers walk in and give the "WTF is this foreigner doing in my class" look. |
