Originally, Dave's Job Discussion Forum was one general forum for the discussion of all job issues. The format was like the Teacher Training Forum, so you saw all the messages for all the topics (except Korea) on one page. When it changed to the current format, at first I didn’t like it, because I may want to jump into a conversation about any job issue and I felt like you got a wider variety of responses when it wasn’t just the “usual suspects” responding to questions. But I got used to it. At first I read the General, the Newbie, and the Mexico and Latin America forums. Now I’ve all but stopped reading the General and Newbie forums because they are full of discussions that have nothing to do with employment issues or living conditions in the world of EFL. Insults, grammar debates and polls like “Are you left-handed or right-handed?” are common. Until recently, the Mexico forum was a safe haven from these types of posts.
What happened?
Can we please get back to the point of this forum?
Remember that in this electronic medium. We cannot hear the tone of your voice. We cannot see your facial expression. Most of us have never met and we don’t know if you are accustomed to sarcasm or the like. Rudeness or snide-ness may be perceived where it was not intended or likewise it may be missed when it was. Yes, posters deserve honest answers, and sometimes they need to be told their plans are based on illusions. But they don’t need to be insulted in the process.
Sorry, but I just had to get this out, the activity on the board the last two days has made me want to stop visiting it. |

Well said, MELEE!! I, and at least one other person I know of, now hesitate to post here because we would rather not have to justify or defend our statements.
There is a line from an old Navajo chant (translated, of course) that seems appropriate to this situation. It is, "walk quietly the beautiful trail." We share this forum, we share this earth. |

Dear saraswati,
From the land of the Navajo (New Mexico), the entire prayer:
With beauty before me, I walk
With beauty behind me, I walk
With beauty above me, I walk
With beauty below me, I walk
From the East beauty has been restored
From the South beauty has been restored
From the West beauty has been restored
From the North beauty has been restored
From the zenith in the sky beauty has been restored
From the nadir of the earth beauty has been restored
From all around me beauty as been restored
The Navajo word, hzh, means beauty/balance/harmony
Regards,
John |

I agree about keeping things relevant, Melee. What I still don't like about the different forums is the scroll rate, check today and you have the same posts that were there yesterday. But at least there is a forum to discuss, from what I can find this is the only Mexico teaching forum out there. |
