Hey everyone,

I haven't posted before, but was curious about a few things before I finalize my contract. I have been offered a position about 45 minutes outside of Seoul in South Korea (Bundang). The employer will offer me 2.2 million won per month without pension, or 2.1 million won per month with pension. I worked it out and I would make a little more money without pension on this offer. However, I heard that being part of the Korean Pension Plan is mandatory. Is it illegal to work there without a pension plan? What are the benefits of it? Does it provide more job security?

I also just had a quick question about the National Health Care. I heard that it relatively cheap even without health coverage. However, I would hate to think that I wouldn't have any health coverage in a foreign country. What are your thoughts and experiences??

Thank you so much.

I think you need to post this on the Korea board. It requires separate registration, I believe.

The topic has been discussed to death on the Korean forums.
You do not need to register to scroll down a page or 3, read and find the answer to your questions.

Both are required by law. Both are often ignored by hagwans.
